A6 Navigator: Explore Article 6.2 ITMO Flows
Article 6.2 enables cooperative approaches between countries for climate action. Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) allow countries to trade emission reductions while ensuring traceability and preventing double counting. This demo showcases how digital MRV and Hedera Guardian create transparent, tamper-evident ITMO flows.
What is Article 6.2?
- •Cooperative approaches between countries for climate mitigation
- •ITMOs (Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes) enable emission reduction trading
- •Corresponding adjustments ensure no double counting in NDC accounting
- •Transparent MRV & accounting are essential for trust and integrity
How Guardian + digital MRV works
Project & Standard Layer
Projects register basic metadata (location, method, baseline, standard ID).
Digital MRV (remote sensing + field)
Remote sensing and field devices provide monitoring data; each data source has a DID and issues VCs.
Guardian Policy & Trust Chain
Guardian's policy engine checks rules (additionality, leakage, Article 6.2 compatibility) and creates a VP.
ITMO Issuance on Hedera
When authorized, Guardian mints ITMO tokens with VPs referenced in memo fields and events logged to HCS.
Transfer, Retirement & Corresponding Adjustments
ITMOs are transferred to Switzerland, retired, and both countries rely on the same evidence for NDC accounting.
